On Aug 7, 2019, at 4.10 a.m. the 'Marinéco Ashanti' lost a 51-m-barge in the middle of the traffic separation scheme of the English Channel, enroute from Lisboa to Ijmuiden. The emergency tug 'Abeille Languedoc' was mobilized by the CROSS Gris Nez to assist. The crew of the British tug managed to recover the barge with its emergency wire. The "Abeille Languedoc" arrived at 7 a.m. and escorted the tu. In the afternoon, the emergency wire broke, but the 'Ashanti Marinéco' finally managed to connect the main towing wire, assisted by the crew of the "Abeille Languedoc' which continued the escort until the 'Marinéco Ashanti' reached the the Belgian boarder at 4:10 p.m. Local authorities were put on alert. The tug reached the port of destination on Aug 8 at 8 p.m. and berthed at the Sluisplein off the lock of the Northsea Canal.
